New courses at Tribal Edge
The Sacred Series- starting March 18, 2022!
These new courses are designed to be a deep dive and deliberately take a step back from the accelerated pace of our modern society in order to deepen and expand your relationship to the primal tools, skills and practices of human-nature connection.
This series is beginning with two new courses that are exploring some of the primal tools that have been at the core of the teachings and experiences offered at Tribal Edge:
The Sacred Fire- a journey with fire, its properties, uses and influence in human life and more.
The Sacred Circle- a journey with a framework for discovering more meaning in life and more.
These unique yet complementary hybrid (physical & online) courses are run parallel with each other, and are offered in several ways throughout the year to give you more options. If you want to deepen your relationship to the earth, expand your capacity as a leader, or simply enhance your quality of life, check out these classes.
Evolution
Since 2002, I have been offering an ecology of introductory classes called the “Core Curriculum”, which have been the heartbeat of Tribal Edge, and have functioned as introductions to the primal journey of human-nature connection.
When I started, I was offering something new that people had not seen before and they often had difficulty understanding what it was about. Now, with the help of social media, YouTube, and TV, there has been an upsurge of survival skills, primal movement, rewilding and other ancestral earth skills have become a familiar and even trendy. This overall positive movement has shifted culture in a way that may play a vital role in the bottom up change we need in the world.
After 20 years of introductory classes, and upon the foundation of these cultural shifts, I feel it is time to expand our curriculum to include more specialized themes of study and practice that help people go beyond the tricks and hacks found on Google, YouTube, and the basics learned in introductory workshops. With the rise of these technologies in the last decade, the role of the instructor has shifted from distributor of information and knowledge to facilitator and guide who supports the process of learning. Most information can now be found online, but as handy as the internet is, the information we find cannot provide the subtle depth of understanding and insight that is cultivated by real relationships that lead towards wisdom and mastery.
What is sacred?
With this goal in mind, I am starting with a series of courses called the “Sacred Series”. These courses are designed to guide participants into the holistic journey of practice that affords personal growth in many dimensions.
By sacred, I mean an approach that is deeply meaningful and inexhaustible which provides insight, wonder, and mystery while being far reaching in application and implication. The sacred touches all areas of life and only grows more rich and complex over time. Everything can be held as sacred and be a source of insight because it is not the thing in itself, rather it is the quality of your connection to something. It is a process and a relationship determined by the quality of attention and intention we bring to it.
The speed of life
One of the constraints humans seem to require to build deep relationships with a practice is time. This is not a popular opinion these days with hyper-speed internet, instant results, information compression, and same day delivery. We are not a patient culture, and the story we are telling seems to be saying the faster the better. However, in spite of our technological progress, we continue to grow at the speed of life, and although sometimes there is a need to rush, it is at the cost of being stressful or in some cases traumatic.
The masters speak of slowing down, being present, patient, and living in the eternal now as the way to access insight and wisdom. Evolutionarily speaking, we have only recently moved from earth time to modern time, from eternity to an instant. Expanding time is what it takes to build meaningful relationships with our practice and to transform our lives into a work of art.
The Sacred Series courses are designed to give you time. Time to connect, to absorb, understand, integrate, and grow your own relationship to your practice in your own way, and to truly embody what you know. This type of learning cannot be rushed but it can be facilitated efficiently. The Sacred Series courses are a guide to help you make deeper connections and embody the primal tools, skills, and practices on an authentic journey towards mastery.
